«Labia sacerdotum custodiunt scientiam». Política y eclesiología en el «De Regno» de Tomás de Aquino
Abstract
This study examines the political theory of De Regno (1265–1266) through the underexplored notion of royal wisdom, adopting an ecclesiological perspective. It aims to reassess the scope of Aristotelian practical philosophy in Aquinas regarding kingship, political regimes, and political science, as well as its influence on later mirrors for princes in the Latin West. Contrary to interpretations that derive the emergence of the wise king directly from political Aristotelianism, the article argues that in De Regno this figure is closely connected to a specific ecclesiology seeking to situate natural regimes within the Church. The analysis thus invites a renewed discussion on the nature and limits of late medieval political Aristotelianism.
