Abstract

With the continuous promotion of emission reduction and energy conservation in China, how to realize integrated development and environment is a serious problem facing many resource-dependent urbans. The restructuring and the industrial composition upgrading will gradually reduce the excessive resource consumption and environmental damage.Urban restructuring hinges on the restructuring of industrial composition (RIC).This research divides it into the optimization of industrial composition (OIC) and upgrading of industrial composition (UIC).Drawing on the panel data of 264 urbans in China from 2010 to 2021, this research categorizes them into resource-dependent and non-resource-dependent urbans, and uses panel threshold regression to examine the threshold effects of environmental regulation and resource endowment on industrial composition restructuring of urbans and the quantitative relationships between variables. The results show that both optimization of industrial composition and upgrading of industrial composition pose substantial threshold effects on resource-dependent and non-resourcedependent urbans.Environmental regulation promotes both industrial composition optimization and upgrading. The resource endowment has little impact on non-dependent urbans, but it hinders the development of industrial composition restructuring of resource-dependent urbans.
