Abstract

In Russia, as elsewhere in the world, despite treatment and preventive measures, cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of morbidity and mortality. Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the most significant medical and social problems, being the leading cause of death and disability worldwide. Patient education at "schools" helps increase awareness of their disease, prevent risk factors and exacerbations, develop symptom self-management skills, and improve their quality of life. The guidelines contain general information about the disease, data on managing the "school" for patients with CAD, recommended topics and content for classes, and tests to assess patient knowledge. These guidelines are intended for specialists who meet the qualification requirements for health workers and pharmacists with secondary vocational education in General Medicine or Nursing, as well as for primary care physicians participating in "health" schools.
