Abstract

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) develops as a result of a gradual and irreversible decline in renal function caused by various factors. The prevalence of CKD is comparable to that of such socially significant diseases as hypertension and diabetes. Timely diagnosis and treatment of the underlying disease, as well as lifestyle changes, can slow the progression of CKD and prevent serious complications. Educating patients with CKD through health "schools" plays an important role in improving their quality of life and prognosis, helping them become active participants in their care. The guidelines contain general information about the disease, data on managing the "school" for patients with CKD, recommended topics and content for classes, and tests to assess patient knowledge. These guidelines are intended for specialists who meet the qualification requirements for health workers and pharmacists with secondary vocational education in General Medicine or Nursing, as well as for primary care physicians participating in "health" schools.
