Abstract

The aim of this study is to provide a brief overview of the formation of various types of ear stones (Sagitta, Lapillus, Asteriscus) in hatchery-reared Pacific salmon – chum salmon Oncorhynchus keta (Walbaum, 1792) and pink salmon Oncorhynchus gorbuscha (Walbaum, 1792), whose specific morphology directly influences the applicability and timing of dry otolith marking in each particular hatchery. Data from previous studies has been updated.
