WIDEBAND ANTENNA WITH CSRR LOADING FOR RADIOLOCATION APPLICATIONS
Abstract
This communication presents a tiny wideband antenna for radiolocation applications. The wideband bandwidth with compact dimensions has been achieved by the usage of a complementary split ring resonator (CSRR). To create a wideband antenna, the CSRR is loaded into a rectangular patch antenna with dimensions of 15 mm × 15 mm × 1.6 mm that resonates at the 10 GHz X-band frequency. The suggested antenna has a coaxial feed and is based on a FR4 substrate. Its 1.15 GHz bandwidth, which spans from 9.12 GHz to 10.27 GHz, is 26.37% more than that of the standard antenna without CSRR. The antenna has an omnidirectional radiation pattern with no null and a gain of 5.71 dB. It is evident from the present patch that currents have risen from 2.76 v/m to 3.25 v/m, indicating that the field distribution that loads the patch with the CSRR has an effect. The suggested antenna has been implemented, and a vector network analyzer has been used to assess its performance. The measured and simulated results nearly match each other. It is clear from these parameters that the suggested antenna model can best suit the X-band radio location application.
