Abstract
Comparative bioinformatic analysis of mouse and human proximal tubule cells identified putative enhancer regions around the proximal tubule determinant HNF4A. A transgenic construct integrated into the H11 safe harbor locus incorporating five of the human HNF4α enhancer regions drives expression of the Escherichia coli lacZ reporter gene lacZ (blue) in proximal tubule cells of the mouse kidney. Substituting lacZ for the mouse Gsta2 gene, Cheng et al. explored the potential of Gsat2 to suppress acute injury responses in transgenic kidneys. A panel from Figure 1 from “Enhanced Expression of the Female-Biased Gene Gsta2 in Male Proximal Tubule Cells Improves Renal Resilience to Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury” by Shun-Yang Cheng, Jinjin Guo, Taylor L.
