Artificial intelligence and cardiovascular diseases: applications in arterial hypertension : From augmented perception to personalized medicine
Abstract
Cardiovascular diseases, particularly arterial hypertension, represent a major public health challenge, with a steady increase in their prevalence. Artificial intelligence (AI) is gradually emerging as a revolutionary tool capable of transforming cardiology practice through three complementary dimensions: augmented perception of clinical and imaging data, optimized reasoning for risk stratification and decision-making, and coordinated action in the organization of care pathways. This review article presents current clinical applications of AI in cardiology, particularly in the field of arterial hypertension, while analyzing the ethical, technical, and regulatory challenges accompanying its deployment. Generative AI—and beyond it, agentic AI—already appears to be a key factor in future initial and continuing training pathways for healthcare professionals responsible for the care of hypertensive patients. The Hypertension Research Foundation supports these objectives of prevention and AI training as a priority action.
