Abstract

This audio episode examines how British airpower in Mesopotamia was justified through racialized military and administrative discourse during the interwar period. Drawing on archival materials relating to Royal Air Force strategy and colonial governance in Iraq, the discussion analyses how aerial control was framed through hierarchies of race and civilization. The episode shows how airpower was embedded in broader racial logics that underpinned colonial rule.© the creators
