Abstract

This article presents the results of experimental studies on basalt and clay materials for the production of new types of ceramic building materials. Kaolin from the Shomishkul deposit was selected as the clay component, while basalt from the Berkuttau deposit and dune sand from the Tabbakum deposit of Karakalpakstan were used as fluxing agents for ceramic masses. The compositions, formation of crystalline phases of minerals, and key properties of the ceramic mass containing basalt rocks for ceramic production were studied using chemical and mineralogical analysis methods during the sintering process in the temperature range of 950‒1100 °C. It was found that the introduction of iron-containing basalt rocks stabilizes the structure and reduces the sintering temperature of the ceramic shard. Ill. 2. Ref. 15. Tab. 4.
