Assessment of the quality of fused cast AZS-refractories of foreign production

An assessment of the quality of fused cast baddeleyite corundum (AZS) refractories of foreign production has been carried out. It is shown that the most important quality indicators of such refractories are corrosion resistance in glass melts and their ability to release defects (bubble, schlier, stone) into the glass mass. The most important condition for obtaining high-quality AZS refractories is their production using oxidative melting technology. The presented data also indicate the creation over the past 30 years in China of an industry of fused refractories with a powerful production base and scientific support, allowing the production of a full range of brands of AZS refractories of interest to the Russian glass industry.
