High temperature shear deformation of materials based on ZrO2‒Y2O3‒ZrB2‒ZrC
Abstract
As a result of a combination of self-propagating hightemperature synthesis processes and subsequent hightemperature shear deformation, compact ceramic materials based on stabilized zirconium oxide (1 ‒ x)ZrO2‒xY2O3‒ZrC‒ ZrB2, where x ϵ [0; 9] mol. %, were obtained. The effect of the stabilizing additive Y2O3 on the combustion characteristics of the studied materials, as well as on their ability to hightemperature shear deformation is studied. It is shown that the introduction of Y2O3 into the initial system leads first to an increase in the temperature and combustion velocity, and then to their monotonous decrease. In addition, it was found that the introduction of a stabilizing additive in combination with high-temperature shear deformation effects the phase composition of the synthesis products. Ill. 6.
