Research in the area of obtaining of activated alumina. Part 9. Colloidal-rheological optimization of aqueous suspensions of reactive alumina for obtaining dense corundum ceramics
Abstract
The optimization of colloidal-rheological characteristics of highly concentrated aqueous casting systems based on two types of domestic powders of reactive alumina (RA): submicron (D50 = 1.12 μm) and medium-dispersed (D50 = 2.7 μm) was carried out. Correlation dependencies of experimental data on the study of the rheological behavior of aqueous suspensions of RA with the Bingham and Caisson rheological models were revealed. The key role of the dispersion of the initial powder and the efficiency of colloidalchemical stabilization of the suspension in achieving high characteristics of corundum ceramics was experimentally confirmed.
