Refractory materials for restoring periclase lining of melting units
Abstract
Refractory shotcrete materials of the Al‒Mg‒Si system with initiation of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) at the interface between shotcrete material and lining have been proposed. These materials are designed for repairing the working layer of furnace linings, ladles, and other metallurgical production units operating at temperatures exceeding 1600 °C. It has been demonstrated that the structure and properties of the developed materials depend on the content of Al and SiC. The designed shotcrete mixture exhibits a high degree of adhesion to periclase based refractory and effectively fills defects in the working layer of the lining without gaps or cracks. The wear resistance of the developed shotcrete masses exceeds that of periclase refractories by more than twofold. Additionally, their deformation onset temperature under a load of 0.2 MPa exceeds 1500 °C. Ill. 4. Ref. 12. Tab. 1.
