Technique for minimally invasive instrumental correction of post-traumatic external nasal deformity using a novel tool (suction-integrated chisel)
Abstract
Objective. To develop and test an instrument for performing osteotomy and a technique for minimally invasive endoscopic instrumental correction of the external nose. Material and methods. A curved chisel with integrated suction was developed for minimally invasive endoscopic osteotomy. In a prospective study, 43 patients with PTND underwent surgery. Evaluated parameters included: operation duration, edema/hematoma dynamics (VAS), and restoration of nasal breathing (3 weeks, 3 months, 1 year postoperatively). Results. Median operation duration was 29.0 (Q1-Q3: 27.5—45.5) min. The intensity of postoperative edema and hematomas on the VAS significantly decreased from 5.0 to 2.0 points between days 5 and 14 (p
