CALCULATION OF A HYDROCARBON GAS REAGENT PURIFICATION REACTOR FROM HYDROGEN SULFIDE
Abstract
In order to solve the problem of gas purification from hydrogen sulfide, many researchers have proposed the use of formaldehyde- and triazine-based absorbents, as well as concentrated alkaline solutions, as an alternative to amine purification. The study focused on the design of tubular turbulent devices for removing hydrogen sulfide from gas using a formaldehyde-triazine-based hydrogen sulfide neutralizer as an absorbent. Calculations were based on the initial and target hydrogen sulfide concentrations in the gas, its daily flow rate, the turbulent diffusion coefficient, the reaction rate constant for a specific type of hydrogen sulfide neutralizer. Reactor geometry calculation options were considered that anticipated significant changes in the hydrogen sulfide content and the volume of gas incoming for purification, with the determination of the current reactor geometry for the updated conditions. After determining the required reactor volume, the most suitable reactor design for the site conditions is calculated. During the calculations, an option was developed for dividing the reactor into several sections with different geometries to reduce the overall footprint of the gas purification unit, as well as the identification of additional sections with turbulators in the event of changes in the amount of incoming gas.
