ANALYSIS OF METHODS FOR ASSESSING FIRE GAPS
Abstract
Currently, due to the high development density in large cities, there is a problem with meeting minimum fire gap requirements. Even at the design stage, difficulties arise in justifying the compliance of such facilities with fire safety requirements when minimum safety distances cannot be maintained. One of the conditions for justifying the compliance of capital construction projects with fire safety requirements established in Federal Law No. 123-FZ «Technical Regulations on Fire Safety Requirements» is the conduct of calculations, tests, or studies. This requirement enhances the value of calculation and research methods when assessing the components of a fire safety system. This article analyzes the main calculation and research methods used to justify the feasibility of reducing fire gaps. The main advantages and disadvantages of these methods for assessing the safety of the relative placement of capital construction projects are highlighted. The main directions of development are highlighted in the use of calculations, research or testing as a tool for assessing the compliance of protected objects with fire safety requirements in cases where it is impossible to comply with fire safety standards regarding the observance of minimum fire gaps between buildings and structures.
