Abstract

HIG-24-011 Introduction This resource contains the full statistical model for CMS Combine ref v8.2.0 related to the paper "Measurement of the Higgs boson total decay width using the \(H\rightarrow{}WW\rightarrow{}e\nu\mu\nu\) decay channel in proton-proton collisions at \(\sqrt{s} = 13\) TeV", by the CMS collaboration. The instructions below include the commands needed to reproduce the workspaces used for the results presented in the publication. For additional technical documentation please consult the CMS Combine documentation. Requirements Since the datacards (besides txt files) often include binary files such as ROOT files, the repository is set up to use Git Large File Storage to track them. This makes cloning the repository much more efficient. In case that you do not have git lfs installed on your system, please follow the git lfs installation instructions. For the commands below, you may require running ulimit -s unlimited; ulimit -u unlimited to avoid memory issues. The results in the paper were obtained using Combine version: v8.2.0. Follow-up tests with versions v9.2.1 and 10.0.2 showed the same results. Analysis specific instructions A dedicated physics model file is included in the models folder of the repository. The physics model includes a parameter called scanMode which determines what type of scan is performed. More details on its usage can be found in the examples provided in the next section. Note, in the physic model we use the following notation: off-shell signal strength = r * on-shell strength Example commands Example commands are provided in dedicated scripts, depending on the target measurement. To perform the off-shell VBF signal strength scan: source VBF_offshell_scan.sh To perform the off-shell ggH signal strength scan: source ggH_offshell_scan.sh To perform the combined ggH+VBF off-shell signal strength scan: source combined_offshell_scan.sh
