Abstract

This scoping review will map eco-responsible practices reported in adult diabetes care, with a focus on how environmental sustainability is integrated into self-management/related devices, consumables, and care processes across home, ambulatory, and hospital settings. Using an integrated conceptual framework combining the 5R hierarchy and the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR), we will classify the types of practices and synthesize implementation determinants (barriers and facilitators). We will also chart reported impacts across key domains, including environmental outcomes (e.g., waste, carbon footprint, resource use), patient and staff safety, and economic considerations. Findings will provide an organized evidence base to inform future implementation strategies and identify priorities for research and practice in sustainable diabetes care delivery.
