“No economizar ningún sacrificio”. Exigencias y condiciones de vida de la población civil paraguaya durante la Guerra contra la Triple Alianza (1864-1870)
Abstract
This article explores the implementation of the Paraguayan government’s economic measures during the War of the Triple Alliance (1864-1870) and the reactions of the civilian population to these measures. Several types of documentation were examined to improve accuracy regarding the economic impacts on the population in the rear, mainly women, the elderly, and children. To measure food production, populations whose residents were not displaced during most of the conflict were selected. The analysis included working conditions, food production, adverse factors, applied punishments, and military needs.
