La gestión del agua en la España semiárida: Alicante (España), 1871-1953
Abstract
The water supply in cities across southeastern Spain has historically encountered significant challenges due to the extreme aridity of the region. This paper takes an enterprise perspective to delve into a case analysis of Alicante. The period covered spans from the initial attempts to establish a modern water service to the establishment of the mixed company that managed it from 1953 onwards. However, the study primarily focuses on the role of foreign capital, initially British and later Belgian. The research will rely heavily on unpublished corporate and municipal sources from Spain, France, Belgium, and England.
