İslâm Hâkimiyetinin Başlangıcından Selçukluların Gelişine Kadar Fars Bölgesi
Abstract
This study examines the historical course of the Fars region from the beginning of Islamic rule to the arrival of the Seljuks, covering political, administrative, religious, social, cultural, economic, and architectural dimensions. The work consists of an introduction, six chapters, and a conclusion; the introduction examines the pre-Islamic period of the Fars region. The first chapter addresses the historical geography of the region, while the second chapter evaluates the political and administrative structure of the Fars region during the periods of the Rashidun Caliphate, the Umayyads, the Abbasids, the Saffarids, and the Buyids, the process of Islamic conquests, and the social movements that occurred during this process. The third chapter details the religious, social, and cultural structure; the fourth chapter covers economic life; and the fifth chapter examines architectural activities. The final chapter focuses on the lives of important figures who were born in the Persian region or later resided there. The study presents a comprehensive overview of the region's transformation under Umayyad and Abbasid rule after the end of Sasanian rule, the growing influence of Iran in the Abbasid court, and the political and cultural activities of local dynasties that emerged with the weakening of Abbasid rule. Furthermore, based on fieldwork, important cities in the region, particularly Shiraz, museums, and historical structures were examined on-site; in this respect, the work constitutes a comprehensive academic monograph that supports archival and literature data with field observations.
