Abstract

This study explores the effect of delay on participants’ preferences for mixed lotteries (involving gains and losses). Specifically, this study will measure people’s loss aversion for 50/50 mixed lotteries of three magnitudes (potential gains of: $100, $500, and $1000) with immediate and delayed (six months) resolution. We will investigate the effects of anticipated net affect and anticipated vividness of imagination on observed differences in loss aversion across time.
