Metaproject - Simulationbased interactive case vignettes in higher education
Abstract
Simulation-Based Interactive Case Vignettes in Higher Education is an umbrella project that develops and evaluates digital case-based learning formats for university teaching. It brings together subprojects that use interactive vignettes to foster professional competencies such as data-based decision-making (DBDM), diagnostic reasoning, and evidence-informed instructional planning. The project compares structured click-based scenarios with more open AI-avatar–supported simulations. Across contexts, the goal is to examine how different levels of guidance, interactivity, and feedback influence learning processes and outcomes. By combining experimental designs, psychometric analyses, and learning analytics, the project provides evidence on how simulation-based formats can be used effectively and scalably in higher education across disciplines and teaching scenarios.
