Early mobilization to promote outcomes in ICU patients: a scoping review protocol
Abstract
Purpose Identify and describe protocols for early ICU mobilization and their impact on the outcome of ICU patients. Background Early mobility has been shown to shorten mechanical ventilation and hospital stay, improve functional independence, and reduce the risk of death. However, there is still a lack of consistent evidence on its specific implementation parameters, which leads to difficulties in clinical practice. Methods The following databases: CNKI, WangFangdata, VIP, PubMed, WOS, CINAHL (EBSCO), and Embase will be searched to identify studies on early mobility in ICU patients following the PRISMA ScR guidelines and JBI methodology to ensure correct reporting. Articles in Chinese and English will be included in the review, with no restriction on the date of publication. Title and abstract screening will be performed, followed by full-text screening based on inclusion criteria. Information about the early mobility protocol and its impact on the outcome of ICU patients will be extracted using a data charting tool. Ethics and Communication As the review only included previously published data, ethical approval was not required. The results will be shared at scientific meetings and in peer-reviewed journals.
