Abstract

This scoping review with framework synthesis will address a critical need to synthesise the literature on the endocrine involvement in Huntington's disease (HD). The objective is to systematically identify and map all evidence relating to endocrine biomarkers in HD. Within this topic, the review will focus on the identification of changes in endocrine hormone levels in people with HD and how they might progress throughout the different stages, as well as associations between biomarker changes and clinical symptoms of HD. The review will employ Framework Synthesis for structured data extraction and analysis, yielding a robust evidence map. This outcome will highlight priority biomarker candidates, define research gaps, and ultimately bring us closer to a better understanding of the endocrine system's role in HD pathology.
