Abstract

This project is a scoping review examining the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-driven technologies to improve medication safety among older adults. The review focuses specifically on individuals aged 60 years and older, who are at increased risk of medication related issues such as polypharmacy, potentially inappropriate medication (PIM) use, adverse drug events (ADEs) and medication-related hospitalisations. The primary aim of this review is to identify, synthesise, and critically map the existing literature on AI-based interventions or predictive models designed to support medication safety in older adults. The expected outcome of this project is a structured synthesis of how AI is currently being used to address medication safety challenges in older adults, along with identification of areas requiring further research and validation.
