Abstract

The proposed research project seeks to determine the efficacy of an online, single-session digital mental health intervention (DMHI) for improving mental health concerns and wellbeing among residents living in rural Utah. The study will employ a pragmatic waitlist randomized control trial among 120 rural residents residing in one of two health care regions (i.e., Bear River and Tricounty Health Districts). The study will determine if the treatment can improve mental health concerns and wellbeing, and if these improvements are explained through the mechanism of psychological flexibility (the mechanism targeted by the DMHI). We will also explore qualitative feedback to help determine the acceptability of the program for rural residents and to glean insights into future dissemination and implementation efforts.
