Abstract

This scoping review aims to systematically map and synthesize the existing Indian literature on cognitive deficits in individuals with bipolar disorder. Cognitive impairments are increasingly recognized as core features of bipolar disorder, persisting across mood states and significantly impacting functional outcomes. While international evidence is substantial, the scope, methodologies, cognitive domains assessed, and clinical correlates reported in Indian studies remain unclear. This review will identify the range of cognitive domains studied, populations examined, assessment tools used, study designs employed, and key findings reported in Indian settings. The review will also highlight gaps in the evidence base to inform future research, clinical practice, and policy in low- and middle-income country contexts
