Abstract

This scoping review aims to systematically identify and gather knowledge and map the literature on the methods and tools that facilitate and enhance the conduct of biomedical research amidst conflict situations. The objective of this scoping review is to identify the available evidence on conducting biomedical research during times of crises and suggest a framework and a guidance to support biomedical researchers to conduct projects amidst challenging situations. Conducting biomedical research encompasses team organization, capacity building, infrastructure strengthening, communication and collaboration, research methodology, sustainability and monitoring. The objectives are to identify: ● Tools for organizing the team’s structure in times of crises ● Methods for promoting capacity building and skill enhancement in times of crises ● Approaches for establishing effective communication, collaboration, and partnership in times of crises ● Strategies to build a robust infrastructure and processes for biomedical research ● Mechanisms for researchers to perform continuous monitoring and evaluation of progress and efficiency of research conduction in times of crisis ● Methods and tools used by researchers when conducting research in times of crises
