Abstract

Thank you for engaging with the EXCAPE URMI Project’s Decolonial methods toolkit. This toolkit functioned as a manual for the core research team during our 16-month fieldwork carried out from August 2024 to December 2025. Alongside our digital exhibition “Outside the Frame: Living with Coloniality and Precarity” (www.excapeurmi.com), primary school teaching resource, project website that includes blogs from core research team members and collaborators, the toolkit now forms part of our EXCAPE URMI research archive that we have co-created with the EXCAPE URMI Research collective. Our intention is for our manual to serve as a toolkit that supports curious, critical scholars intending to engage in decolonial and transformative social research. A toolkit that can be adapted and translated-both linguistically and contextually- so as to work with communities around the world to redress epistemic and material injustices that we face.
