The Goddess Within? Exploring Intergenerational Empowerment through Durga Maa among Bengali Women
Abstract
This phenomenological study explores how Bengali women across two generations interpret Durga Maa as a symbol of empowerment within patriarchal cultural contexts. Using interpretative phenomenological analysis, it seeks to examine the lived experiences, intergenerational narratives, and psychological meaning-making to understand whether symbolic reverence translates into everyday empowerment or remains largely paradoxical.
