How is learning about older people’s health needs assessed in nursing education? A scoping review protocol
Abstract
Despite a growing body of scoping and systematic reviews examining educational interventions in gerontological nursing, assessment practices have received little attention. Existing reviews predominantly focus on teaching strategies and learner outcomes, with assessment considered primarily as a measurement tool rather than as a pedagogical driver of learning. Given the complexity of older people’s health needs and the central role of assessment in shaping learning behaviours, a scoping review will be undertaken to map how learning about older people’s health needs is assessed in nursing education and to identify gaps for future research and curriculum development.
