The impact of Aging on Pragmatic Abilities: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Abstract
This project presents a systematic review and meta-analysis examining the impact of healthy aging on pragmatic language abilities. Pragmatic skills involve understanding and using language appropriately in context, including non-literal interpretation and conversational effectiveness. While age-related language research has largely focused on pathological conditions, evidence on healthy aging remains fragmented and mixed. This review aims to quantify the overall magnitude of age-related differences in pragmatic abilities and to identify potential moderating factors contributing to variability across studies.
