Cognitive Coherence as an Emergent Property of Energy–Information Alignment Under Friction Constraints: A Biophysically-Informed Conceptual Framework
Abstract
This preprint introduces the ISHEA Cognitive Coherence Model (C ≈ E×I − F), a biophysically-informed conceptual framework integrating flow theory, cognitive load theory, and task-switching research into a unified model of cognitive performance. The information component is formally decomposed into three operationalizable sub-dimensions: goal clarity (I₁), feedback immediacy (I₂), and task structure (I₃). The energetic component (E) is hypothesized to be associated with candidate bioenergetic proxies (NAD⁺, ROS, ATP), explored in a companion manuscript under peer review. Five testable hypotheses are proposed. Implications for organizational design, education, and neurodiversity are discussed.
