Threads of Self in the Fabric of Culture
Abstract
This is a senior thesis that aims to examine how perceived anomie influences general self-efficacy and happiness within a culturally diverse adult sample. Using validated measures of anomie, self-efficacy, interdependent happiness, and self-construal, the study investigates whether individuals’ cultural backgrounds or self-construal orientations moderate these psychological relationships. Data will be collected through a global online survey administered via Prolific and Qualtrics. By combining both sociology and cross-cultural psychology, this thesis aims to clarify how societal instability can shape individual well-being across cultures.
