Abstract

Despite the well-established benefits of regular physical activity, engagement remains low among adults with congenital heart disease. Alongside low physical activity levels, prolonged sedentary behaviour represents an additional and emerging risk factor for adverse health outcomes, yet remains underexplored within this patient group. The aim of this systematic review is to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions designed to increase physical activity levels and/or reduce sedentary behaviour in adults with congenital heart disease. By identifying which interventions are most effective in promoting physical activity and/or reducing sedentary behaviour, the findings of this review will inform future research, support evidence-based clinical practice, and contribute to the development of guidelines to improve long-term health and well-being in adults with congenital heart disease.
