Politicians and Deliberative Mini-Publics

This registration describes a plan for a survey to evaluate politicians’ preferences for the use of deliberative mini-publics in local politics, and whether expected outcome favourability and democratic norms and ideas influence those preferences. The survey will be conducted in Sweden via a panel of predominantly local-level politicians over the winter of 2025/2026. It will contain two treatment conditions in which respondents are either told that DMPs discussing public transport policy typically recommend increasing public subsidies to public transport or not.
