Abstract

This pre-registration outlines an analysis of data from two datasets: The Oxford Early Executive Functions (OEEF) study (University of Oxford), and the Longitudinal Executive and Attentional Functions (LEAF) study (University of Bristol). Data on maternal depression and infant inhibitory control is available from both datasets when the children were 10- and 16-months-old. Inhibitory control (IC) can be considered to be hot (IC in an effective or motivational context) or cool (IC in a non-affective/neutral context). One Cool IC measure and three Hot IC measures are available from both datasets at both ages. The aim of the analyses presented in this preregistration are to examine how chronic maternal depression relates to infant Hot and Cool IC, and to assess the direction of the relationship between maternal depressive symptoms and Hot and Cool infant IC. Please find this preregistration in document format, as well as an appendix, in the Resources tab of this registration.
