Human Reactions to Robots: Exploring Mindless and Mindful Connections
Abstract
This study looks at how people treat robots and other social technologies like they are human, even when they know they aren’t. Using brain scans (EEG), the researchers will measure two types of reactions: quick, automatic responses (N400) and slower, more thoughtful responses (P600). Participants will interact with a robot, then see different pictures and words to test their expectations. The goal is to understand whether people respond to robots in a way that’s similar to how they respond to humans. This could help us learn more about how we connect with social technologies like robots or AI.
