Global patent filings related to connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs)
Abstract
This dataset provides information about global patent filings related to connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs), collected from The Lens (Lens.org) on May 12, 2025 (SERP: https://link.lens.org/upkBd9nT3nh). This information includes: (a) a spreadsheet of all of patent filings (N = 63,794) related to connected and autonomous vehicles and their details, as collected using Lens.org; (b) nine key topics identified through BERTopic, a topic modeling technique that leverages transformers, organised in separate data files (with their respective topic numbers, names, and key words in the filenames); (c) an iPython notebook for running BERTopic on the dataset of patent filings; and (d) a spreadsheet with all patent applicants (only for topic numbers 13, 95, 62, and 10) (N = 1,265). The dataset is deposited for the (open access) journal article: Gekker, A., Hind, S., Pereira, G., &, van der Vlist, F. N. (Accepted/In Press).
