Abstract

The study focuses on the development of a tragacanth gum-based nanocarrier for the delivery of the poorly soluble drug lornoxicam (LRX). A composite nanocarrier, TG/NS-CN, was created by incorporating transition metal dichalcogenide NiS2 with graphitic carbon nitride and tragacanth gum. Various characterization techniques (XRD, FTIR, UV-visible spectroscopy, SEM, BET, DLS, zeta potential) were used to analyze the composite. Key findings include a crystallite size of 2.38 nm, a polydispersity index (PDI) of 0.3, and a zeta potential of -40.18 mV, indicating a negatively charged surface. In vitro drug release studies revealed that 78.43% of LRX was released at pH 7.4, with the Peppas-Sahlin model providing the best fit across different pH levels. Additionally, the nanocarrier demonstrated good CO2 adsorption capacity, fitting the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms for different pressure conditions. Overall, the TG/NS-CN nanocarrier exhibited effective LRX delivery and strong adsorptive properties for CO2.
