Mapping the Voices and Lived Experiences of Black Care-Experienced Young Adults in the UK: A Scoping Review of Qualitative Literature
Abstract
The aim of this scoping review is to systematically map and synthesise the breadth of existing qualitative literature exploring the lived experiences of Black care-experienced young adults in the UK. Specifically, the review will examine what qualitative literature exists, how participants’ voices are represented, and the common themes emerging from their experiences. In addition, it will map these experiences against Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory (1974) to explore which levels are most commonly represented in the literature. Finally, the review will aim to identify conceptual, methodological, and empirical gaps to inform future research and clinical practice.
