mHealth-based information support strategies for men with prostate cancer: A scoping review
Abstract
Prostate cancer is one of the most prevalent malignancies among men worldwide, and patients commonly experience long-term physical, psychological, and informational challenges throughout diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. In recent years, mobile health (mHealth) technologies—such as smartphone applications, SMS-based reminders, mobile web platforms, and wearable devices—have been increasingly used to deliver health information, support self-management, and improve communication in cancer care. Although several digital health interventions have been evaluated in prostate cancer populations, no systematic review has specifically synthesized evidence on mHealth-based information support strategies targeting the informational needs, decision-making, and self-management abilities of men with prostate cancer. This review will fill this gap by identifying the types, components, and implementation characteristics of mHealth information support interventions for prostate cancer patients. The findings may guide the design of evidence-based mobile information support programs and inform clinical practice, digital health development, and future research.
