Self-Efficacy in Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease : A Scoping Review
Abstract
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic and relapsing condition whose treatment and management heavily rely on patients' long-term self-care behaviors. Self-efficacy serves as a key psychological construct influencing disease adaptation, treatment adherence, and quality of life in patients with IBD. However, existing evidence remains scattered and has not been systematically collated. This scoping review aims to systematically map the current research landscape on self-efficacy in patients with IBD, clarify its conceptual frameworks, measurement tools, associated factors, and intervention strategies, thereby identifying existing knowledge gaps and providing direction for future research.
