Abstract

Transgenic maize is largely used in human and animal food, being recognized for its nu-tritional value and the advantages that its varieties offer for cultivation. To assess the im-pact of this feed, we conducted a systematic review focused on production parameters for four economically relevant livestock animals: cattle, poultry, swine, and fish. The search resulted in 49 articles published between 2001 and 2020, 25 for poultry, 14 for cattle, 10 for swine, and 1 for fish. Analysis of the results revealed a notable increase in tissue colora-tion and phosphorus absorption, but no adverse effects were recorded in animal produc-tion. In short, transgenic maize maintained the productive performance of animals at lev-els comparable to those observed with conventional maize.
