Gong Lun (On the Common Good): A Middle-Range Theoretical Framework
Abstract
This framework redefines Gong (the Common Good) not as selflessness or sacrifice, but as the expansion of Si's (self-interest) boundary. It analyzes the five layers of obstacles to Gong—biological instinct, survival pressure, cognitive limitation, systemic rigidity, and broken trust—and proposes five corresponding pathways. The framework operates on the Not-Yet Cognition operating system and includes a practical guide for individuals to live Gong in a world dominated by Si.
