Abstract

The primary aim of this research is to investigate the daily prevalence and contextual triggers of teleological thinking in adults. While existing literature, such as Ramsay et al. (2019), suggests that teleological explanations (finding purpose in life events) can mediate the relationship between religion and well-being, this study seeks to capture these thoughts as they occur in real-time. By using Ecological Momentary Assessment Methodology (EMA), the project moves beyond retrospective surveys to understand how often and under what specific circumstances individuals engage in purpose-driven reasoning in their everyday lives.
