Risk Factors for 30-Day and 90-Day Readmission in Patients with Decompensated Cirrhosis After Discharge: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Abstract
This registration documents the protocol (Version 1.0) for a systematic review and meta-analysis on risk factors for 30-day and 90-day hospital readmission among adults with decompensated liver cirrhosis. Index admission causes are not restricted; upper gastrointestinal bleeding/variceal bleeding will be examined as a pre-specified subgroup/sensitivity analysis. We will extract and prioritise nursing-modifiable factors (home self-management adherence, healthcare access/follow-up, social support/caregiver capacity) and sleep-related variables when reported. Risk of bias will be assessed using QUIPS. Quantitative synthesis will use random-effects meta-analysis stratified by time window (30 vs 90 days) and effect type (OR/RR/HR); when meta-analysis is not feasible, we will conduct a structured narrative synthesis. Any protocol amendments will be versioned and documented in subsequent OSF registrations.
