Love as a Reception Structure: Non-Response, Deviation, and Relational Persistence
Abstract
This registration proposes a theoretical framework that defines love as a reception structure rather than a response structure. Conventional relational models assume reciprocity and observable response as the condition of relational validity. In contrast, this framework argues that relational persistence can be structurally sustained even under conditions of non-response, deviation, or interpretive failure. The core distinction is between response (observable return action) and reception (structural evaluative holding). Reception does not require reciprocity, completion, or behavioral confirmation. This distinction explains phenomena such as unreciprocated care, prayer without reply, one-sided devotion, and caregiving under cognitive non-response. The model introduces operational definitions, a structural schema, and an ideal-type typology of relational forms. It further argues that deviation and interpretive divergence are not defects but structural consequences of the separation between articulation and evaluation. This registration establishes conceptual priority for the reception–response distinction and the reception-structure model of love and relational persistence.
